The UN Division of Healthcare Management and Occupational Safety and Health (DHMOSH) is led by a Medical Director who is accountable to the Assistant Secretary-General. This Division is structured into several main sections, each with core functions. The Director coordinates the system-wide implementation of UN medical standards and health policies, serves as a medical adviser for the Advisory Board on Compensation Claims, and provides expert guidance to the UN Joint Staff Pension Board. The Division actively addresses healthcare issues at all duty stations and ensures staff access to essential benefit programs.

The mission of the UN Division of Healthcare Management and Occupational Safety and Health (DHMOSH) is to safeguard the physical and mental health of staff worldwide, including uniformed personnel, while ensuring access to essential medical benefit programs. We achieve this by developing, reviewing, and implementing United Nations medical standards, policies, and guidelines, and ensuring their coordinated application across the system. Our Division is dedicated to fostering a healthy, safe, and compassionate work environment through comprehensive health policies, health promotion initiatives, and robust medical emergency preparedness. Our responsibilities also include providing medical clearances for recruitment and mission deployment, evaluating sick leave and related benefits globally, ensuring timely access to health services and medical evacuations, and offering direct clinical care and psychological support to staff.
