Design Related Recommendations for Facilities and Infrastructure

This document presents engineering-focused design recommendations developed by the Elsie Initiative for Field Missions. Based on extensive feedback from field visits, outreach, and research, the recommendations aim to enhance living and working environments by addressing four key human factors: mental wellbeing, physical wellbeing, privacy, and social interaction. The proposed improvements include conceptual layouts and specifications for accommodation, ablutions, office spaces, and camp design. These recommendations seek to improve satisfaction for women in field missions and contribute to reducing the gender gap.
