Food Rations for Field Missions Manual
- 31 July 2026
The purpose of this Manual is to provide the strategic objectives and an operational framework for conducting food rations supply activities throughout the United Nations (UN).
The food rations supply activities throughout the UN are designed to provide a flexible and adaptive service to missions. To achieve this objective, some processes and procedures need to be adapted to local circumstances while also following international regulations. This document establishes a regulatory framework for food rations related activities in the United Nations, with the aim to guide staff through those processes and procedures where strict compliance with rules and regulations is required. It also gives a broader policy guidance in areas where local circumstances may necessitate variations to such framework. As such, it aims to provide a standardized approach to the provision of food rations while supporting a common understanding of food rations supply activities across all missions and UNHQ. Compliance with the provisions of this Manual will reduce risks, enhance the professional development of staff and ensure that processes are harmonized across missions.
